About Jaides

Summary of Jaide Ellery & ‘Jaide’s Stage Studios

Jaide has been dancing, singing and performing since the age of 2 years, performing in Pantomime at the Rugby Theatre and in  ‘Oliver’ at the Haymarket, including the ‘West End Theatres and Disneyland in California. She has taken part in Workshops for the famous ‘Sylvia Young Theatre School’ in London and performed competitively in festivals around the country, rewarding her with hundreds of ‘Certificates, Medals & Trophies’. At 14 years, having achieved the highest grades in RAD Ballet, Tap, Acro, Lyrical and Modern Dancing, together with achieving high successes in L.A.M.D.A. Examinations for Drama and studying Piano, Jaide decided to set up her own dance classes, initially to teach ‘street dance’.  Jaide, completed her ‘A’ levels, and choreographs and teaches all the students with the support of her mother, Sandra.  Due to the increasing popularity, a voluntary Parent Committee also operates on a regular basis.

Jaide has produced several successful ‘Variety Shows’ with almost £3000 being donated to the ‘CRUK’. with local events frequently held to raise funds towards costumes. Sylvia Young, who had been a celebrity guest, was extremely impressed with the high standard, invited Jaide and her students to take part in a specially organised workshop in November 03.

To her credit, Jaide has passed on her classical singing skills to the students, and recording work regularly takes place, producing a selection of CD’s,  producing both cover versions and original songs. These classes are now taught under the supervision of a fully qualified L.A.M.D.A. tutor, who has combined both the Drama & Singing groups to form a Musical Theatre group.

Jaide’s Street Dance, performed a variety of song & dance routines for the ‘Queens Jubilee’ Celebrations, in association with Rugby Borough Council at Caldecott Park, and also featured at the ‘Motor Show’ & ‘Summer Sizzler’ at Whitehall Park, alongside 107.1 Rugby FM Radio, for whom they front local road shows.

Trial classes were introduced by Rugby Borough Council, for Bradby Youth Club, where Jaide taught a group of teenagers, which proved to be a great success. Jaide also ran Dance Workshops organised by Rugby Borough Council during the Summer Holidays.

After passing auditions, the school performed at ‘The London Palladium’ and at ‘Her Majesty’s Theatre’, in the West End, with Jaide choreographing her own unique routines, which was hailed as a brilliant success. A special tribute was made to Jaide in recognition. She was interviewed on ‘Carlton Television – Central News’, who filmed them during their dance rehearsals.

Representing Rugby as one of 12 citizens, whose 300 foot image was projected onto ‘The Rugby Cement Tower’, potentially one of the largest outdoor screens in Europe, was another successful achievement for Jaide. She was interviewed ‘live’ on air by ‘BBC Midlands Today’ being chosen for her business skills through the success of her dance school at such a young age. The images being displayed in Rugby’s Art Gallery.

Jaide and senior students performed with their first live orchestra – ‘The Normandy Band of the Queen’s Division’, to a classical number, ‘Orpheus of the Underworld’, at the famous Rugby School’s Temple Speech Room’, also in aid of charity.

She has also made her debut in Mexico during Xmas 02 & Cyprus in July 03, performing with a troupe of professional dancers and intends to take students from her school to perform in Cyprus at a later date, time permitting.

The town’s ‘Rugby Business Awards’, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and local businesses, was  held at the Benn Hall in April 03,  with Martin Johnson – England’s Rugby Football Captain attending as a Special Celebrity Guest. ‘Jaide’s Street Dance’ won ‘Runner up’ award, in the ‘Millennium Newcomer’ category . In April 04, ‘Jaide’s Street Dance’ won two ‘Runner up’ awards in the ‘Innovator of the Year’ category and ‘Business Investment Opportunity of the Year’ category with Tom O’Connor presenting the awards – both very momentous occasions.

An independent television company in London, produced a one hour documentary regarding ‘Entrepreneurial Teenage Life’ in Britain, based on teenage issues, for ‘Channel Four Television’, and Jaide, together with students from the dance classes are featured in the programme which was shown on the 23rd & 24th September 03.The programme has been repeated several times and another series is hopefully planned for the future. Jaide was specifically chosen for her business entrepreneurial skills at such a young age.

Funds were raised for a charity show for the ‘Myton Hospice’ held in November 03, in which Jaide and her students  performed, together with guest appearances for 107.1 Rugby FM’s Talent Contest at Rugby Theatre, and to end another successful year,  fantastic performances for The Town’s Christmas Lights Switch On was a tremendous achievement for them all!

Jaide’s 4th Annual Show was performed at the Rugby High School, during March 04 which was hailed as their best ever performances with a presentation of awards as a thank you gesture to all the students for their hard work & dedication to Jaide throughout the year. A donation was made to the ROSA Charity from a raffle and programmes sold.

A change of venue was decided to enable stability and expansion, where planning permission was obtained for a derelict unit to be turned into ‘purpose built dance studios’. In April 04, the purpose built dance studios were successfully running under their new name of ‘Jaide’s Stage Studios.

Filming for a ‘trial’ pop video for ‘The Early Learning Centre’ under the supervision of a Film Producer took place at the new venue, and plans to produce a full series are under discussion.

After successfully auditioning, Jaide and her students accompanied by members of their families, performed at ‘Disneyland’ in Paris. The Head Organisers of the Disney Magic Music Days Entertainment Group were so impressed they invited Jaide and her school to perform there again.

Jaide now teaches dance at several local schools, as part of the new National Curriculum timetable, followed by ‘after school dance clubs’.

Jaide’s Stage Studio’s 1st Competitive Festival, which Jaide and her mother organized, took place over two weekends at the Harris School in October, where schools from Coventry, Leicester, and Hinckley & Nuneaton were invited. The School won a total of 16 trophies with Jaide winning the overall ‘Teacher’s Choreography’ Award. A Variety Show took place in November at the Benn Hall, where winners were given another chance to perform their winning routines.

‘Acrobatic’ classes were introduced into the school November 04, where the students began rehearsing for their 1st public routine for their Annual Show in April. The students are also able to take IDTA Exams & Medal Tests.

Wayne Sleep OBE’, world famous dancer and famous for dancing with the late ‘Princess Diana’, recently renowned for his TV exploits in ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’, ran a series of workshops for around 150 pupils in the new studios which again was hailed a fantastic success. Wayne had agreed with Jaide to offer this one in a lifetime opportunity and commented on Jaide’s incredible achievements at such a young age.  He ran several workshops throughout the day where the children learnt routines to music from ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’, ‘Moulin Rouge & Cabaret’. At the end of the day, parents, family, friends, The Mayor and Local Press were invited to watch a special performance by the children and where the chance was given to take photographs and collect personally signed autographs.
